The Carleton Ravens paid a successful visit to Trent on Sunday, winning both games against the Excalibar soccer teams. The Raves had two goals each from Shayla Lavecchia and Samantha Nealon in the 4-0 result. Trent's best chance came on an excellent corner kick from Amy Walsh which Britney McIntosh headed on to the crossbar.
The men's game featured fast hard fought action in which Carleton's Sam McCue early goal remained the final score.
Both team travel next weekend to play Nipissing and Laurentian.
Friday night under the lights on Trent field the Women’s rugby team managed to earn a 5-5 tie with the University of Toronto Blues. Although the Trent pack dominated for most of the game, lack of finish and some poor decision making, left them fighting hard to get back in the game after Toronto’s player of the match, Lee-anne Corrigan, scored late in the first half on a bruising run.
Trent winger, Danielle Julius-Williams, put her team back in contention after taking a well timed pass from Celeigh Harris. The game ended with the team frustrated as they repeatedly backed Toronto on to their goal line.
The players look forward to finally gelling as a team for their important match next home game Friday night against arch rival Queen’s university.
The Trent lacrosse team started strongly against the visiting Carleton Ravens on Trent field Sunday night but the superior numbers of the visitors prevailed as the game wore on, leading to a final score of 12 - 7. Goalie Calvin Thomas kept his team in the game with several tough saves from close in. Trent spread the scoring between John Hiltz, Sean McGee, Maby M’Wanagonze, Alex Renaud, Josh Beam, Keith McChesney and Joe Stanley.
The next home game will be October 3 against Queen’s University.
