Trent-Queen's women's rugby
The Trent university women's rugby team played with the best intensity they have showed all season against the Queen's Gaels but still lost a hard fought battle 27-5 Friday night at the Trent stadium. With the score 10-5 for Queen's at half time, the momentum seemed to be swinging to Trent but a number of critical turnovers and skillful counter attacking by Queen's gradually gave the game away. Lauren Wizowski scored Trent's lone try with a hard run in the first half. Queen's had two tries from Karlye Wong and one each from Jocelyn Poirier, Susan Heald, and Andrea Wadsworth. Andrea Wadsworth kicked Queen's lone convert.
Trent's next game will be at York on October 8.
Trent defeats Queen's lacrosse
The Trent lacrosse team defeated the visiting Queen's Gaels 10-9 in the final moments of Saturday's game on Trent field. John Hiltz and Sean McGee had outstanding games scoring four goals each. Neil Caravello scored twice including the winner on a thrilling breakaway which came as Queen's were pressuring Trent in their zone with the clock ticking towards full time.
Trent men's rugby against Seneca
The Trent men's rubgy team played solid disciplined defence and aggressive fast paced offence to win convincingly 25-18 over the visiting Seneca Stingers Saturday on Trent field. In the feature game on the field during Head of the Trent activities Daniel Santos and Josh Deck played standout games. Santos scored a try, and kicked a penalty and a convert. Deck scored two tries and took the attack to Seneca with a number of slashing runs. John Weiland scored early in the second half to establish the positive momentum that the Trent team maintained right to the end of the match. Matt Fabro and Adam Walsh scored tries for Seneca while two penalty kicks were added by their fly half Matt Raguseo who also kicked a convert.
The men play again Thursday at 7pm, at Trent against Fleming
