In volleyball action at Trent University Saturday afternoon, the Women’s team defeated Fleming College in three straight games.

In doing so, they set an all time aces record for the OCAA - beating the previous record by 13. The team is now guaranteed a spot in the championship tournament to be held at Loyalist College in Belleville February 24-26. The team finishes their season on the road against Durham College on February 16.

The Trent Women's Volleyball Team hosted Fleming College on Saturday afternoon at the Trent Athletics Complex. Trent dominated the match, defeating Fleming 25-2, 25-13, and 25-14 and set two new OCAA Women's Volleyball records along the way. The Lady Excalibur established new OCAA service aces records for a match (37) and a single season (266), eclipsing the former OCAA records of 25 and 229 service aces respectively.

The Lady Excalibur's last home game of the season was Seniors Day, which provided an opportunity to acknowledge graduating varsity volleyball student-athletes. Fittingly, graduating seniors Kim Letros (17 points: 11 aces, 6 kills) and Peterborough native Alex Thompson (14 points: 8 kills, 6 aces) led the way for Trent. With the captain's contribution of service aces, Alex Thompson is now 3rd all-time in service aces in OCAA Women's Volleyball.

Trent's record improves to 17-2 and secures them an entry to the OCAA Provincial Volleyball Championships in Belleville, hosted by Loyalist College from Feb 24-26. Trent travels to Durham College on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season.
