Volunteers are encouraged to come to Story Meetings, Friday at 2pm restarting in January, where we discuss what articles are going in the next issue and writers sign up to cover them. If you can’t make it to the story meeting, email us and we can set an alternate meeting time or discuss your story ideas over the phone or email.

If you’re interested in the production side of the newspaper, email us and we can set something up.

Submission Guidelines

Articles are to be no more than 800 words, opinion pieces no more than 600 words, and announcements a maximum of 50 words. Features can be up to 1800 words, but must be arranged in advance with the editor-in-chief or the features editor.

All article submissions are due Wednesdays at noon.
Letters are due on Wednesdays at noon.
Letters to the editor that are more than 200 words may be published, but Arthur reserves the right to edit letters for length.
Listings, Classifieds and Events are due noon Wednesdays and should be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Submissions must include your name and phone number. You may ask to have your name withheld from publication.

Please submit your stories as an email attachment or drop them off in a floppy disk (spare us headaches, please use email). Save your work as a Rich Text (*.rtf) file.

When Typing :

Leave a space between the headline and byline.
Do not indent on paragraphs.
Do not leave space between paragraphs.
Type the whole article single-spaced and leave only one space after a period, not two.

When You're Done :
Spell-check document.
Word-count document.
Write your name, phone number and the word count and send it to us.

Arthur reserves the right to edit or refuse any material that is considered unfit for publication as determined by the Editor(s).


Deadlines for articles are the Wednesday beforehand, unless prior arrangements have been made with the editors. ("Prior arrangements" really just means a phone call or e-mail letting us know where you're at  \n This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Getting articles in as early as possible relieves a lot of the stress on production staff, and they will like you better.)

Story Meetings are the Friday before the Wednesday deadline for the upcoming issue. (Ie. Friday, Nov. 6th is the story meeting for Issue 9.) We will keep them at 2pm for now unless something changes.
