The Golden Artistry of Lizeh Basciano

In every community, there are artists whose voices rise above the ordinary—voices that feel less like sound and more like light. For Peterborough and the surrounding Kawarthas, that light is Lizeh Basciano, a vocalist whose artistry blends technical skill, emotional power, and a natural glow that seems to shimmer around her like a soft aura.

Her gift isn't just her voice—it's the energy behind it. She sings with the kind of conviction that makes you stop mid-conversation, turn your head, and feel something shift inside of you. Her tone is warm, inviting, and emotionally intuitive—but it is her presence that anchors everything. When Lizeh steps into a room, she doesn’t just perform; she radiates

Music has always been the language of her home. With a mother who sings and plays the French horn, and a father who plays guitar, her early years were surrounded by harmony. “I am out singing,” she jokes, but there’s honesty beneath the laughter—music was the first language she ever learned. Even as a child, the stage felt like a second heartbeat.

Her first moment of recognition came at age ten, performing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

“People didn’t expect that voice from such a small kid,” she remembers. “That’s when I realized I could move people.” What began as instinct soon revealed itself as a calling—not a pastime, but a path.

Today, Lizeh stands as one of the region’s most radiant emerging artists, known for her emotional interpretation, vocal power, and unwavering authenticity. Her performances stretched across genres—pop, country, soul, oldies, acoustic—and she moves through each with the kind of fluidity of someone who doesn’t just sing music but understands it.

Her skill and professionalism have placed her on some of the region’s most beloved stages: headlining the Adele Tribute at Market Hall on New Year’s Eve, feature shows at Boshkung Brewery and Rolling Grape Vineyard, regular evening sets at the Chemong Lodge and Belly’s, and intimate dockside concerts where neighbours gather along the shoreline to listen.

These stages highlight not only her growing presence but her vocal control, performance stamina, and intuitive ability to read a room. Lizeh adapts to scale with ease – commanding theatre lights one night and shaping ambience in candle-lit patios the next. “Every space asks for something different,” she says. “My job is to meet the room where it is – and then lift it.”

What audiences remember most is not just her technique—it's her emotional honesty within it. She sings with a kind of vulnerability that invites the listener in, trusting them with parts of her story. “I lean into sadness sometimes,” she says. “People can relate to that. When I sing, I think about what I’ve been through, and it helps me give real emotion.”

Her emotional intelligence is one of her strongest artistic skills. She sings as if every note is a hand extended to the listener. Her ability to emote is not performative; it’s relational.

“It’s never just about singing,” she says. “It’s about connection. When someone says, ‘I felt that,’ that’s everything.”

Lizeh has a spiritual understanding of music, believing some songs “find” her. “Don’t Stop Believin’” became a refuge—a song that met her where she was, held her, and helped her grow. “That song helped me build who I am,” she says. “Some songs choose you; you just have to listen.”

Even now, inspiration arrives in flashes: while she’s getting ready for the day,  listening to tunes, or hearing a stranger’s performance. “It’s like a spark,” Lizeh says. “A pull. I just know when it’s mine.”

When asked what singing feels like to her, Lizeh describes a sense of zen—a deep stillness where she grounds herself. “I want to give people peace,” she says. “Like—here’s a moment for you. Here’s a little magic.”

And audiences feel it. Whether she’s belting a high note or delivering a tender phrase – her voice carries a shimmer – a warmth brightened by conviction.

Listeners often describe her performances as inspiring, cathartic, or healing. “There’s just something about her,” one audience member said at Rolling Grape Vineyard. “She doesn’t just sing a song—she fills it.”

Despite her growing success, Lizeh remains grounded, humble, and deeply human. She is most herself with her lefty guitar in hand, surrounded by friends, family, and neighbours who’ve supported her from the beginning.

Kindness is the heart of her artistry – a value she carries from her personal life into her music. If her voice could leave one message with the world, she says it would be simple: “Be kind. Always.”

This philosophy is double stitched into her performances, the way she honours her late music teacher, and the way she shows up for her community.

Lizeh’s glow is unmistakable. With a strong local presence, an ever-growing audience, and a refined artistic voice, she stands firmly and gracefully in the fullness of her gift.
